The Virginia Press Association and Virginia Press Services have added a new member to the board of directors.
James “Jim” Maxwell, publisher of the Bristol Herald Courier, will serve as a director on the VPA/VPS board for the 2018-19 year.
Maxwell has been publisher at the Herald Courier since 2011. He previously served as a publisher at newspapers in Pennsylvania, New York, Oregon and New Mexico.
The 2018-19 board stands as follows:
Officers: President, Steve Weddle with the Central Virginian and Lakeway Publishers; president-elect, Steve Stewart with Boone Newspapers; vice president, Jay Kennedy with the Washington Post; secretary, Kelly Till with Virginian-Pilot, Daily Press; treasurer, Chad Harrison with the Star-Tribune; past president, Anne Adams with the Recorder; and assistant secretary and treasurer Betsy Edwards, executive director of the Virginia Press Association.
Directors for the VPA/VPS board for 2018-19 are as follows: Billy Coleburn with the Courier-Record; Mike Gochenour with Northern Virginia Daily and the Winchester Star; James Maxwell with the Bristol Herald Courier; Jeff Poole with the Orange County Review; Bruce Potter with Inside NOVA and Rappahannock Media; Ryan Gilchrest with the Daily Press; Paige Mudd with the Richmond Times-Dispatch; Lynn Hurst with the Salem Times-Register; and Carol McCracken with the Chesterfield Observer.
