RTD reporter receives health journalism fellowship

A Richmond Times-Dispatch reporter has been awarded a prestigious fellowship for for health journalism, the paper announced late last week.

Katy Burnell Evans, the RTD’s local government editor, was named the 2018 Center for Health Journalism National Fellow and a Dennis A. Hunt Fund for Health Journalism grantee.

She will use the fellowship to write about mental health issues.

FOIA training being offered through the year

Four free Freedom of Information Act training sessions will be offered in Richmond throughout the rest of the year.

The Virginia Freedom of Information Advisory Council will host the sessions.

Attendees will learn how to request public records, what exemptions apply to FOIA laws in Virginia and more.

Training will be offered on July 25, Aug. 29, Oct. 3 and Nov. 7 at 900 E. Main Street in Richmond.
