After nearly 40 years, a Virginian-Pilot sports reporter says ‘goodbye’

This past Monday was Virginian-Pilot sports reporter Harry Minium’s last day.

Minium’s has worked at the Pilot over the last 39 years covering all things sports related. A native of Norfolk, Minium said it has been a privilege to report in his community.

“I can’t imagine having had a better job than being a journalist in my hometown,” Minium wrote in a farewell column.

Loudoun Times-Mirror names new top editor

The Loudoun Times-Mirror has named Trevor Baratko as its new editor-in-chief.

Baratko succeeds previous editor Dale Peskin. The change took effect this past Monday.

Baratko has been with the Times-Mirror for the last six years. In 2016, he became the paper’s managing editor after previously working as a government and politics reporter.

Credit manager promoted at RTD

The Richmond Times-Dispatch has promoted Janet Williams to credit manager in the advertising office.

Williams has worked at RTD for 40 years this month. She previously served as credit coordinator at the paper.

“Janet has learned the newspaper advertising business from the ground up including two advertising system changes during her tenure,” said Vice President and Business Manager at RTD Raymond McDowell. “Janet’s background enabled her to lead the merger of the accounts receivable team with the credit and collection team.”
