Virginian-Pilot sold to Tronc

The Virginian-Pilot has been sold to a Chicago-based newspaper publisher, officials said today.

The purchaser is Tronc, formerly known as Tribune Publishing. It owns metropolitan papers in cities such as Chicago, New York, Baltimore and Orlando. It also owns the Daily Press of Newport News.

Officials deny NoVa Daily FOIA request

Warren County officials have denied a FOIA request by Northern Virginia Daily for records that detail how a teenager died.

The records involve the case of a teenager, last seen on April 26, that was found dead on May 8 in Warren County.

RTD launches newsletter for “foodies”

The Richmond Times-Dispatch announced late last week that it is launching, “RVA Dine,” a newsletter that will focus on the city’s emerging dining scene.

“We are excited to showcase our second-to-none coverage of the Richmond region’s dining and drinking scene,” said Paige Mudd, Executive Editor and Vice President of News.

“We know our current audience loves to learn about restaurant and beer news, and with our updated website and new email newsletter, we will show the entire region and state that the Richmond Times-Dispatch is the most complete and entertaining source of dining news.”
