Danville Register & Bee reporter leaves

Halle Parker, a reporter for the Danville Register and Bee and former editor at The Rotunda at Longwood University, is leaving the newspaper for a reporting job in southern Louisiana.

Parker will join the staff at Houma Today as the paper’s environmental and education reporter. Her last story for the Register & Bee detailed the fear that some area farmers have about how their livelihood will be impacted by a new pipeline.

Daily Progress sells out an edition, set to publish collector’s edition book, special section of UVA’s basketball team

People could not get enough of the Tuesday edition of the Daily Progress. The paper sold out of its edition, which featured photos and coverage from UVA’s national championship win on Monday night.

Today, the paper has made another run of 6,000 copies of the Tuesday edition that can be ordered online or bought at the paper’s front office desk. This Sunday’s edition, which will contain a special section dedicated to the team, is also available for preorder.

Additionally, the Progress will publish a collector’s edition photography book to commemorate the 2018-19 UVA Men’s basketball season and national championship.

“The Road to Redemption: Virginia’s Remarkable 2018-19 Season,” will collect photos from the team’s regular season and their run in the NCAA Tournament. The book will be 144-pages long and feature stories and photos from the Progress’s staff.
