On the Sports Beat: A conversation with women sports reporters at The Washington Post
September 25 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Sports journalism has long been a male-dominated field. The Washington Post has made headlines for having female reportersleading coverage of the city’s NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB franchises, as well as other sports.
We’ll talk with some of these reporters about how sports journalism has evolved over the years and what it is like being a woman on the beat.
Join SPJ DC Pro Chapter members, Georgetown’s Graduate Journalism Program and other journalists for the Sept. 25 panel featuring Postreporters Isabelle Khurshudyan, who covers the Washington Capitals; Candace Buckner, who covers the Washington Wizards; Liz Clarke, a sports writer who has covered the Washington Redskins and other teams; Kimberley Martin, who has covered the Washington Redskins and recently took a new job with Yahoo Sports; and Ava Wallace, who covers college sports teams, including those at Georgetown, Navy and the University of Maryland-College Park.
The panel is set for 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 25, 2018, in the auditorium of Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies, 640 Massachusetts Ave. NW in Washington. The auditorium is close to the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro stop and Metro Center.
