American Community Newspapers sells Northern Va. division to HPR Hemlock

American Community Newspapers LLC Tuesday completed the sale of the company’s Northern Virginia division to HPR Hemlock LLC.

Included in the division’s publications are Leesburg Today, Ashburn Today, Loudoun Magazine, Loudoun Business, Middleburg Life, the Arlington Sun Gazette and the Great Falls, McLean, Oakton, Vienna Sun Gazette, with the combined Northern Virginia circulation of more than 191,000.

HPR Hemlock, based in Fort Worth, Texas, was formed to make media acquisitions, particularly newspapers and their websites and online mobile products. The company’s philosophy centers on finding strong local news providers with management experienced in their local markets with local and regional readers and advertisers. Growth markets and community journalism are primary to the company’s acquisition strategy.
