Catherine Cleaton, owner of Rappahannock Times, dies

Catherine Harley Cleaton, owner of the Rappahannock Times, died May 30 after a brief illness. She was 67.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, 206 Tidewater Trail, in Tappahannock.

A native of Ashland, Cleaton graduated from Patrick Henry High School and attended Longwood College. Her late husband, Willie Allen Cleaton, supervised printing operations on The Herald-Progress in Ashland before the couple bought the Rappahannock Times in the early 1970s.
